This is quite possibly the most enlightening book on female health and wellness ever written!  Dr. Northrup draws upon 20 years of experience in her gynecology practice to show how western medicine and ancient wisdom along with a woman's own perceptions of how she is functioning in our "addictive" society, play a major role in complete healing.  She also explores the role of natural therapies such as herbal remedies and proper nutrition and how they relate to one's overall health.
Women's Bodies, Women's Wisdom has received an extraordinary response from women and men all over the world.  She powerfully demonstrates that when women change the way they view their past and their present; all things are possible.  The potential for joy, happiness and true bliss exist just beneath our concept of who we are!  Changing this concept to one of power and ancient wisdom, not dictated by the dogma of a patriarchal society, can be so life-changing that traditional medical intervention may be unnecessary.
Dr. Northrup offers her readers a bold, new perspective on normal female processes such as menstruation, pregnancy and menopause.  She emboldens women who dare to uncover incest and abuse through female ailments.  Confronting "rape" whether it is physical or mental brings with it a healing that may not require allopathic care.  She cites case histories of women whose physical ailments, including biggies like endometriosis, infertility, breast cancer, etc., all have roots in emotional upsets and life history. Using an "AA" approach, these same women confronting the "real" problem have found peace and healing.
A breakthrough in conventional thought, this book is for every woman.  Deepak Chopra believes it is a "must read" as well, for every man who wishes to nurture and understand the woman in his life. I found this book to be absolutely life enhancing! Truly, a gift to future generations offering peace and intelligence where strife and ignorance are the norm.
